Elisabeth and I recently had the chance to break out of the Swedish November darkness for a short visit to Istanbul and Izmir. It was warm, sunny and full of Asian flavours. What a Turkish delight!
Improving Crop Yield and Water Productivity by Ecological Sanitation and Water Harvesting in South Africa

Sustainable intensification of smallholder agriculture is a critical issue for addressing food security. In this article, we analyze current crop constraints and some exciting water and nutrient enhancement strategies across South Africa. I wrote it together with colleagues at Eawag, ETH Zurich, Alberta Innovates, NTU Singapore, and University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. It is published in the high-profile scientific journal Environmental Science & Technology.
Improved SWAT Model Performance with Time-Dynamic Voronoi Tessellation of Climatic Input Data in Southern Africa

This scientific article, published in JAWRA in February 2012, presents a new method to prepare climatic input data for hydrological models. The method significantly improves disharge simulations. I developed it together with colleagues at Eawag, ETH Zurich, and AWRI.
